In 2006, the United States Mint released the Nevada quarter as part of the 50 State Quarters® Program. Wild mustangs are the main subject of the Nevada quarter design. The horses are protected by law and protected by the federal government. Since the land can't feed too many horses, some horses are rounded up every year and adopted.

To learn more, visit Nevada's quarter page and the February 2006 Coin of the Month page featuring the Nevada quarter.
